< 2005 North Slope Pinot Gris

COMPLETE TASTING NOTES

Chalk Hill's limited production Pinot Gris is unique from the vine to the bottle. Referred to as "gris" due to its grape color, Pinot Gris becomes purple/gray before it reaches full maturity at Chalk Hill. The Alsatian clones 145 and 152  are planted on Chalk Hill's North Slope, a tiny enclave in the coolest region on the estate that provides the perfect ripening conditions for this graceful and finicky grape. The grapes are processed in the most delicate manner to ensure that we capture all the complexity the variety has to offer. Chalk Hill's 2005 North Slope Pinot Gris is all about texture. With its velvety, mouth-coating flavors of spices pears, golden delicious apples and toasty hazelnuts along with a ripe acidity, this is a food-lovers wine that compliments a wide variety of cuisines. Some prefer to drink this wine young when its fruit is abundant, while others opt to wait until age allows flavor progression into the realm of nuttiness and minerality.

SUGGESTED PAIRINGS

Pairs wonderfully with Pan Seared Day Boat Scallops, Shrimp with Coconut Broth and Thai Red Curry Soup.
